Unwardliness In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
owardliness brings one to lifelong suffering! The story, ââ¬Å"The Kite Runnerâ⬠by Khaled Hosseini takes place over the course of twenty years, first beginning in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1975. Amir the main character, is faced with the cruel burden of cowardliness and guilt as a result of a childhood trauma, he has yet to seek redemption towards. Amirs childhood may seem nothing but perfect to many in Kabul, but his strained relationship with his father, Baba, leads the young boy into a whirlwind of competitive behavior towards the familys Hazara servant Hassan, all to win over Babas affection. Although Hassan is Amirs best friend, Amir feels he is superior to Hassan and takes advantage of him, even though Hassan would do anything in theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦For example, Hassan is courageous and challenges the neighborhood bully Assef, when he is making fun of Amir in the streets. In the midst of the fight, Assef begins to swing at defenseless Amir, but Hassan musters u p the courage and threatens Assef with his slingshot in order to save his friend from getting hurt. Clearly Hassan strongly entails bravery and courage at the very moment when it is needed the most, and stands up for what is right no matter what Assef could have done to him in the moment, or even in the future. Courage is evidently portrayed through Hassans character, especially through the measures he takes to protect his friend. Meanwhile, Hassans bravery manages to ward off Assef, and keeps the two out of trouble; however the bully promises to get his revenge on a larger scale in the future. Hassan and Amir brush off Assefs warnings as if they were nothing, but should have Hassan and Amir taken the future threats more seriously? Hassan exhibits great amounts of courage and bravery from the very beginning of the book in many ways, while doing so through the actions he himself takes, and the circumstances he subjects himself to. One would learn that Hassan has the courage and brave ry to endure suffering and physical pain in order to remain loyal to Amir who is like a brother figure to him. For example, Hassan has the valor to stick up once again to the neighborhood bully Assef, in the name of successfully

Solar Energy Solar Panels - 999 Words
Solar Energy: Solar Panels In the last decades energy consumption has come to a time where people started noticing the climate changes and the effect of fossil fuel energy for not only being environmentally destructive but also causing Global warming (the warming that occurs as a result of increase emissions of greenhouse gases) has become a very big issue worldwide. The fossil fuels (Oil, Coal, and Natural Gas) which is the main sources of the worldââ¬â¢s energy sources have negative natural emissions coupled with the human activities that change the atmosphereââ¬â¢s composition (e.g. through burning fossil fuels) have contributed immensely to the global warming which has also effected the climate conditions in the world. The effect of these changes has prompted some people to propose alternative energy like solar panels... And other effect. Organisational Structure for Assessment of Memo â⬠Free Samples
Question: Discuss about the Organisational Structure for Assessment. Answer: Purpose/prompt: The aim of this memo is to conduct what went wrong for Qantas airlines and what are the initiatives which should be taken by Qantas to cover lost grounds and bring back the trust that the public have on it. Thesis: The flight with 747 passengers on board towards Sydney when and explosion took place in the aircraft engine thus the pilots were forced to land the plane in San Francisco. After this there were two more incidents which took place in Singapore thus the reputation of the airlines was at stake. Preview: Through the successive years of growth, Qantas Airlines had to go through many problems in this particular years. The Qantas of four engine had left from Sam Francisco International airports Boeing about 747 passengers. The plane was on its way towards Sydney as when the explosion occurred in the four engine. The pilots started to dump fuel in the Pacific Ocean and measure a safe successful landing back to San Francisco. It was the first time for Qantas Airlines to face the problem ("Qantas Airways Limited 2011 Strategy Day", 2011). Qantas Airbus A380 return back to Singapore after taking a short take-off as when the explosion cause in the engine of the aircraft on November 9, 2010. Again on the day of November 5, the plane makes a way back to Singapore Boeing 747 passengers due to the fault of an engine. These are some of the cause of Qantas Airways for which the reputation and early revenue is coming low. So, there are some of the ways that the management need to be focuse d on getting back its reputation. 1.Three key issues identified in the case (what went wrong?) During the mishap an oil pipe of the engine got fractured which lead to fire in the engine. After that the turbine engine disintegrated. Later on it was found that the dispute in the engine which was manufactured by Rolls Royce was the main cause of failure. 2.Future actions Qantas can take Few things which Qantas can do to upgrade its technology are usage if cloud for storage of cockpit data, reassessing and reprograming the black box for safety and better flight safety check of every engine before going for the actual run. 3.Factors to consider when using social media Prioritizing the goals is of utmost importance while using social media. Without clear goals the social media plan is useless and also aimless (Six important factors to consider for a social media strategy, 2017). Chalking out the target audience is also important, if the target audience is not known then the channels could not be chosen properly and thus the whole thing would be aimless (Three vital factors to consider when creating a social network ecosystem, 2014). 4.Communication Plan Template 1.Timing Qantas Airlines should take the time of any festival or any other occasion by giving the process of advertisement and offer that the target audience can be targeted by getting opportunities to go through a plane. The audience mainly looks over the advertisement which is given by the organization on any occasion. Therefore that gives a good revenue. 2.Audience Through the planning of communications, a message is delivered to the targeted audience which gives great results to have a great outcome to the management of Qantas Airlines to solve the problem or issues. These processes are taken to get the target audience or passengers directly or by whom the passengers can be influenced. Force media to give a report to the newspaper of the issue and programs. Interest should be vested to OST programs ("Creating a Stakeholder Communications Plan", 2017). Delivers messages through community forums, organized events, and media opportunities. Make direct mail pieces which can be delivered to the target audience. Use other local business to deliver messages to the community. 3.Sender The plan is been taken by Public Relation Officer or Chief Executive officer of the management community to get a communication with the target audience by giving a proper advertisement about Qantas Airlines. The public relation office or Chief Executive officer plan many things like fare discounts, luxury status and other many more liable ideas for the passengers to gets a proper revenue and good status of its organization ("The case for PR at Qantas", 2011). 4.Key Message If the management of Qantas Airlines once has decided to list the target audience then there need of some key messages to develop some unique issue and concerns. The process of key message is done to give relevant communication to the target audience that they can understand the point of view. It is to be important that the management community groups should receive the superseding key message that has set in by the audience (Buhalis, 2003). To get support and also to achieve the business goal the key message is important by the management of Qantas Airlines to get a proper communication with the audience. 5.Desired Outcome Through this process of targeting audience and key message, there is some desire that the management is expecting from the audience. The Qantas Airline's management had taken all types of measurement to get back their reputation. The offer that has given by management on Qantas Twitter page that the first 50 passengers who will win the competition will gain first class seats and amenity luxury kit of Qantas. This is the process that can target the audience and can have a good desired outcomes through its reputation as well as in revenue. 6.Medium Twitter is one of the social networking in high business management. The high revenue people use twitter on every account. Qantas Airlines should take a strategy by distributing its business process like real time updates, reinforce core brand message and respond properly to the passenger's compliments, comments, and comments. Besides Twitter, social networking sites like Wats App and Facebook is other two source of the medium that can be used by Qantas Airlines to distribute their business offer and activities that the passenger can follow or see it and can compare it with other airlines ("QANTAS AIRWAYS LIMITED 2011 STRATEGY DAY", 2011). The Qantas Airlines should also use other social networking sites to go through the business and again to gain its reputation. 7.Materials The make good relation media program, Qantas Airlines management need to develop the materials these above materials. By using the upper materials it is easy to determine that which materials are best for getting those goals by making the most of the company resources. The materials that need to be used by the management of Qantas Airlines are Press Kits: The press kit must be prepared in a way that is stress-free for the news media to use. Press release: A press release should tell the story or news about the organization are trying to deliver ("QANTAS: NOT JUST ANOTHER AIRLINE", 2011). Op-ed articles: Op-ed articles deliver individuals with a chance to remark on subjects that disturb the target audience. Byline articles: it is retained by a projecting person who has reliability in their field. Letter to the editor: permitting individuals the chance to remark on recent news stories or local creativities. Newsletters: interconnect with your audience on a steady basis. Public Service announcement is free airplay that television and radio stations give to non-profit making organizations. Background rally: background videos, may help in receiving the organization news on television. 8.Frequency The advertisement or offer that will be provided by Qantas Airlines management through the networking sites or practically will be frequent so that the audience can get it into their mind. If the process will be frequent than it is best for the audience to catch so they can use the offer and luxury place in the airlines of Qantas. Summary No organization like Qantas can say strongly that their aircraft will not go any problem while traveling. Through this study, it has seen that the Qantas has faced many problems which have locked down their reputation. So, to get back up their position the following process that which have mentioned above are assured to gain back the reputation of Qantas Airlines and will earn more revenue. Reiterate thesis/blueprint The aim of the memo was to create a communication plan for Qantas Airlines to re-communicate with its customers so as to re phrase the image of the airlines which got ruined due to the mishaps. Polite Closure We would hope that Qantas could be able to regain its old image and be on the top list of being the safest airline in the world. References Buhalis, D. (2003). The Use of Leather to Make Cloths Should Be Discou Essays - Hides
The Use of Leather to Make Cloths Should Be Discouraged Most of us love to wear leather shoes and clothes, but have anyone stop and thought whether it is right or wrong to put on products made of leather? Perhaps not. This essay is centered on the argument why the use of leather to make clothing should be discouraged by all means by all governments across the globe so we can save animals and workers. To begin with, many innocent animals are slaughtered each year to cater for the leather industry. According to PETA, the numbers actually go as high as one billion yearly. Slaughtering them may not be a problem but they are reared just to provide leather which makes them to be reared in unfriendly environment awaiting their turns to be slaughtered which is wrong. Animals are transported in unfriendly means to the slaughterhouse. In India for instance where most of the animals for slaughter come from have poor transport conditions which are against the law but traders do it anyway. Indian law requires that a maximum of six animals be transported at a time but this doesn't happen. Animals are taken to the slaughterhouses without being fed because at the end of the day only their hides matter (Tutu 106). Sometimes, leather is obtained in cruel means. In China for instance, calves that have not been born yet are obtained from their mother's wombs because their leather is fine. According to Bekoff (404) obtaining leather from animals is done when some of them are still alive. Under normal circumstances, leather is obtained from animals using chemicals; bactericide solution and sulfides to ensure that leather obtained is of high quality. Employees who work in the leather firms are also exposed to health risks. As mentioned earlier, chemicals are used to make the leather obtained in its highest quality. A study by Rastogi, Pandey and Tripathi (132) reveal that tests done on employees working in leather firms showed that they are exposed to a lot of chromium coming from the animals' urine whose accumulation in the body may lead to Dermatitis and in some cases ulcers and nasal cancer. Opponents of this argument may argue that if not slaughtered for leather, animals are slaughtered for meat which makes leather tanning nothing out of the norm. This argument is lame because some animals such as horses, cats, dogs are not food for everyone thus their slaughtering is a waste of innocent animals' lives. Others may argue that the conditions in which animals for slaughtering are reared in matter less because at the end of the day only its hide matters. This is a misinformed argument because animals are living organisms and deserve to be treated with care. Opponents may still claim that slaughtering in whatever means is cruel in itself. What these people fail to understand is that the concern of leather tanners lies in the quality of leather and not the suffering that animals undergo which is unethical. While some people might argue that the names infections are not limited to leather firms only they are more prevalent in leather firms thus leather tanning should stop in order to save workers health. After all, in leather firms, chromium levels are extremely high. To summarize, evidence in this essay shows that leather used to make shoes and clothes is obtained unethically as it affects the animals and the workers negatively. The negative effects range from animals being slaughtered cruelly, workers being exposed to hazardous situations and animals being reared ruthlessly. Consequently, leather should cease being used for clothes and shoes. Works Cited Bekoff, Marc. Encyclopedia of animal rights and animal welfare. Santa Barbara, Calif: Greenwood Press, 2010. Print. The eNotes Blog Double, Double, Toil and Trouble Branaghââ¬â¢s Macbeth is a Wonderfully TempestuousProduction
Double, Double, Toil and Trouble Branaghââ¬â¢s Macbeth is a Wonderfully TempestuousProduction For a brief week, the Seattle International Film Festival was able to bring Manchester International Festivalââ¬â¢s production of Macbeth to the Uptown Theater in Seattle. As a part of a series called National Theater Live (which includes Othello with Adrian Lester and Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller), this production stars the illustrious Kenneth Branagh as the titular Scottish King. I was lucky enough to get tickets to see this thunderous play. Co-directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford, the production was spectral, but appropriately stark. A lot of the eerie desolation came from the fact that it takes place in a deconsecrated Manchester church. The floors of the church were ripped out, so the stage was a pit of austere earth across which the witches skulked and the Scottish thanes clashed bloodily. Rain was poured unsparingly onto the actors. The dim lighting was the perfect harshness for this sinister play. In this shadowy setting, Branagh emerges as a bold and complex Macbeth. As a director and an actor, itââ¬â¢s clear that he is an absolute master of the Shakespearean text. The madness that corrupts Macbethââ¬â¢s mind as he progresses through his evil deeds is nearly tangible. The raw emotion that Branagh brought to the role was especially palpable in the scene in which Macbeth learns of his wifeââ¬â¢s death. ââ¬Å"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,â⬠laments Macbeth, each word laden with passion. Branaghââ¬â¢s normally lucid diction is marred by the strangled emotion. ââ¬Å"Out, out, brief candle,â⬠he chokes, ââ¬Å"Lifeââ¬â¢s but a walking shadow, a poor player/That struts and frets his hour upon the stage/And then is heard no more. It is a tale/Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,/Signifying nothing.â⬠He is matched in every way by Alex Kingstonââ¬â¢s performance as Lady Macbeth. In my opinion, Lady Macbeth is the most succulent role of the Scottish play- and Kingstonââ¬â¢s performance was violently impressive. Even as someone who is very familiar with Macbeth on page and stage, Kingstonââ¬â¢s ferocity often took me aback. It takes guts to invest that much energy into a character who is so cruelly ambitious that she is willing to dash out the brains of her own infant in order to gain power. The tumult of scene after scene works to propel the plot extremely effectively. Every moment seems urgent, and every word seems to burn with intensity. No one is a letdown- from John Shrapnel as a jolly and naà ¯ve King Duncan to Ray Fearon as a sturdy Macduff to Rosalie Craig, who stands out in her singular scene as a surprisingly fierce Lady Macduff. This National Theater Live production of Macbeth is truly grotesque- in the best way possible. The feral movements of the scenes showcase the savage glory of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s work. A breathtaking performance of a vicious story, it is at once fair and foul.

Iguana Facts
Iguana Facts There are over 30 species of iguanas which belong to the class Reptilia. Depending on the species, iguanasââ¬â¢ habitats range from swamps and lowlands to deserts and rainforests. Iguanas are organized into nine broader categories of species: the Galapagos marine iguanas, Fiji iguanas, Galapagos land iguanas, thorntail iguanas, spiny-tailed iguanas, rock iguanas, desert iguanas, green iguanas, and chuckwallas. Fast Facts Scientific Name: IguanidaeCommon Names: Common Iguana (for green iguana)Order: SquamataBasic Animal Group: ReptileSize: Up to 5 to 7 feet (green iguana) and as small as 5 to 39 inches (spiny-tailed iguana)Weight: Up to 30 pounds (blue iguana)Life Span: 4 to 40 years on average depending on speciesDiet: Fruits, flowers, leaves, insects, and snailsHabitat: Rainforests, lowlands, swamps, desertsPopulation: A small number of individuals to several hundred per hectare (green iguana)Conservation Status: Least Concern (green iguana), Endangered (Fiji iguanas), Critically Endangered (Fiji crested iguana)Fun Fact: Marine iguanas are excellent swimmers. Description Iguanas are cold-blooded, egg-laying animals and are some of the largest lizards found in the Americas. Their size, color, behavior, and unique adaptations vary depending on the species. Some, like the Fiji banded iguana, are bright green with white or light blue bands while others have dull colors.à Marine iguanas have black coloration to help warm their bodies after swimming in cold ocean waters. Iguana on a rock. Shikhei Goh / Getty Images The most abundant and well-known type of iguana is the green iguana (Iguana iguana). Their average size is 6.6 feet, and they weigh up to 11 pounds. Their green color helps camouflage them in undergrowth, and they have a row of spines on their body which function as defense. Habitat and Distribution Depending on the species, iguanas live in a variety of habitats including deserts, rocky regions, swamps, rainforests, and lowlands. Green iguanas are found throughout Mexico down to Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and southern Brazil. The iguana species inhabiting the Caribbean islands are collectively known as the rock iguanas. Desert iguanas are found in the southwestern U.S. and Mexico, while two genera of marine iguanas inhabit the Galapagos Islands. Diet and Behavior Most iguana species are herbivores, eating young leaves, fruits, and flowers. Some eat insects like the wax worm, while marine iguanas dive into the ocean to harvest algae from plants. Some species house bacteria in their digestive systems which allow them to ferment the plant material they eat. Green iguanas are omnivores when they are young but shift to almost entirely herbivorous diets as adults. Young green iguanas eat mostly insects and snails and shift to eating fruits, flowers, and leaves as adults. They have sharp teeth that allow them to shred leaves. Green iguanas also live high in the tree canopy and inhabit higher altitudes as they grow older. Another interesting fact about iguanas is that they can detach their tails when in danger and regrow them later. Fiji crested iguana (Brachylophus vitiensis) on Viti Levu Island, Fiji. It is critically endangered species of iguana found on some Fijian islands. Donyanedomam / Getty Images Reproduction and Offspring Iguanas generally reach the age of sexual maturity at 2 to 3 years and can lay anywhere from 5 to 40 eggs per clutch depending on the species. For green iguanas, males establish mating pairs with females during the rainy season and leave the tree tops to fertilize the eggs during the beginning of the dry season. Most iguana species dig a burrow in sunny areas to lay their eggs inside and cover them. The ideal temperature range for incubation of these eggs is between 77 to 89 degrees Fahrenheit. After 65 to 115 days, depending on the species, these young hatch at the same time. After digging out of their burrows, the newly hatched iguanas begin their lives on their own. Species Marine iguana feeding on an algae covered rock. Wildestanimal / Getty Images There are roughly 35 living species of iguanas. The most abundant species is the Common or Green iguana (Iguana iguana). Iguanas are grouped into 9 categories based on their habitats and adaptations: the Galapagos marine iguanas, Fiji iguanas, Galapagos land iguanas, thorntail iguanas, spiny-tailed iguanas, rock iguanas, desert iguanas, green iguanas, and chuckwallas. Threats The Fiji iguanas are an endangered species, with the Fiji crested iguana listed as critically endangered. The biggest factor in the decreasing numbers of Fiji iguanas are predation by feral cats (Felis catus) and the black rat (Rattus rattus) invasive species. Additionally, crested iguanas are critically endangered due to the rapid decrease in their habitat of dry healthy forests in the Fiji Islands. This habitat reduction is due to clearing, burning, and conversion of forests to farmlands. Conservation Status The green iguana is designated as least concern according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). All species of the Fiji iguanas group are designated as endangered according to the IUCN, with the Fiji crested iguana (Brachylophus vitiensis) listed as critically endangered. Iguanas and Humans Green iguanas are the most common reptile pets in the U.S. However, because they are hard to care for, many of these pets die within the first year. In Central and South America, green iguanas are bred on farms and eaten by people. Their eggs are considered a delicacy, often referred to as the ââ¬Å"chicken of the tree.â⬠Sources Green Iguana. Re-Engineering Technique of Lightco Company Essay - 14
Re-Engineering Technique of Lightco Company - Essay Example As mentioned in the case, the company was divided into six departments. Each department was working separately. Engineers had occupied the executive level, while they did not have adequate experience or sufficient ability to manage people. It was one of the factors that affected the Job performance and the ââ¬Å"Leading abilityâ⬠based on the job performance equation: ââ¬Å"Job performance = Abilities X Motivation X Org. Supportâ⬠. II. Stressful, the relation between stress and lack of communication states that ââ¬Å"poor employee communication causes employee stressâ⬠. The employees were unaware and worried about the (BPI) attitude towards them; therefore, the employeesââ¬â¢ morale went down once again and this time it was at an all-time low. The stress affected employees; hence, both the pilot projects had adverse effects on the employees. For instance, by the centralization of the Customer Services processes, 150 employees were worried about their careers. According to Health Magazine, Customer Services was ranked as the eighth most stressful job. Nonetheless, the pilot project increased the employeesââ¬â¢ stress and made their situation even more complicated. Also, it seemed that the Re-engineering Technique was the major contributor to high levels of stress. à III. Inequity, The probability of inequity was a common belief among Lights employees. Not only the employees but even White had promised to commit to employment equity. According to the Equity Theory, an employee will usually compare himself/ herself with others. The prejudice is clear in Lights situation, as Coral emphasized, "I received a one-day training session while the manager was getting a four-day training session". She was dissatisfied and believed that it was unfair. She thought that she would be given more attention during the implementation of the culture change technique but this was not what happened.

The Economic Environment of Business questions Essay
The Economic Environment of Business questions - Essay Example In short, it can be concluded that Aldiââ¬â¢s share would increase substantially after opening of new stores in different areas across Britain. à à (Hawkes, 2008) The word downturn refers to a slump in sales due to economic recession and meltdown that because unemployment increases and consumption decreases. The business organisations observe negative growth in their businesses since customers are inclined to make purchases of necessities and are reluctant to make purchases of luxuries and other items with higher price elasticity. Supermarket Industry is an oligopolistic industry since there are few businesses (large scale producers and retailers) that dominate the market and reap benefits. These businesses may set industry total output and prices of their products. Moreover, they have mammoth financial resources because of revenue they generate from their several in-town and out-of-town supermarkets. They also attract a large pool of customers compared to what a small retail shop attracts. It is worthwhile to mention that retailers face stiff competition with their rivals so that each could attract maximum customers. Tesco is one of the leading retailers in UKââ¬â¢s supermarket industry that enjoys a market share of over 28%. Since, it has the potential of offering more than 40,000 products from its organised chain of retail outlets all across Britain; it enjoys monopoly like situation in many instances. Tesco offers various products that attract more buyers than any other retailers including Aldi and Sainsbury. It must not be forgotten that Tesco faces stiff competition from other retailers; therefore, it may not restrict or control production / supply of every product as well as set higher prices to reap abnormal profits. Instead, Tesco may take advantage from products that are not offered by any other retailer and therefore customers are dependent over it to make their purchases. (Hawkes, 2008) Like other

The Appropriate Criteria Essay Example for Free
The Appropriate Criteria Essay The internal QA process largely takes place within the college programme/ department itself. Generally, this process collects continued information in a systematic way about the quality being achieved. The Self Assessment reports are the corner stone of the whole QA system and need to be prepared by the college under the guidance provided by the external agencies e.g. City and Guilds, EAL The Self Assessment report should be validated by peers and is the backbone of the whole exercise of Quality Assurance and Enhancement in Colleges. Therefore a standard Self Assessment report should motivate the internal QA by identifying its weaknesses and strengths, in practicing to be prepared for external assessment and informing the external evaluators about internal QA System. A self assessment report should provide comprehensive information regarding objectives, structure and content of the academic programmes, the learning and teaching environment and curriculum organization etc. The processes of conducting Self Assessment (SA) of college programmes are outlined by the scheme providers which provide guidance for practicing self assessment of college programmes of higher education institutions to maintain and improve the quality standards simultaneously. see more:explain why a workers personal views should not influence an individual\s choices Self Assessment is an effective tool for academic Quality Assurance and provides feed back to administration to initiate action plans for improvement. Quality in higher education is a dynamic entity and therefore various factors that determine quality of higher education must be set in equilibrium at a level that matches with national expectations and standards. These factors include, inter alia, leadership, quality of faculty, quality of students, curriculum, infrastructure facilities, research and learning environment, governance, strategic planning, assessment procedures, and their relevance to market forces. Combined with this the criteria for judging the quality of assessment process is usually laid down in organisation standards, such as health and safety, equality and diversity. Along with this we require an evidence trail to ensure relevance. Another method is the use of the criteria of meeting targets Use of questionnaires to assess learner satisfaction to awarding organisat ion standards. e.g. Performance./assessment criteria Levels :- NVQ etc Performance indicators Checklists Logging and tracking documents Portfolios Occupational/vocational standards National Occupational Standards (NOS) Government regulatory body standards e.g. Ofqual/Ofsted. When assessing , VASCAR can be referred to when judging the quality of the assessment process. V Is it valid; does the work presented meet the criteria and standards that are being worked towards? A Is the work authentic; is the work the learners/assessors own? S Is the evidence sufficient: is there enough to meet the requirements? C Is it current; is it linked to the current standards and are they up to date? A Is it accurate R Reliability; are the assessment decisions consistent and assessed to the appropriate levels for the qualification? Another acronym which is good to relate to during the process is ACR A Accuracy/audit trail ensuring all paperwork matches C Is there consistency over all the assessments, are all assessors working to the same standardized procedures R Record keeping, are all records accurate and thorough (ie are all dates and signatures correct and present). It is vitally important to ensure the above systems are maintained and followed correctly when judging the quality of assessment process. It is also important that they are adhered to in order to contribute to standardization throughout the college. Their use is also important to identify any discrepancies or support needed either for individuals or the team as a whole.

Are Blacks Too Cool For The We :: essays research papers
Do less blacks than their fellow white Americans use the web? According to the Pew Study on Internet Usage , the answer is yes, but this study is also quick to point out that it’s not merely color, it’s a mixture of things. However, according to Leonce Gaiter , author of Is the Web too Cool for Blacks, “the web mocks…our fundamental beliefs, our core desires. (p 643)'; Gaiter flatly states that the majority of white Americans have an ignorance for black culture. He does not take the time to address the other legitimate reasons accounting for the black deficiency, but continues to rattle on about prejudice and racism, not even stopping to document proper sources. Have morals and values changed in America and left blacks behind? According to Gaiter, the web can’t help us achieve our ‘50’s and ‘60’s ideals (p 643).'; Blacks still want the traditional “American Dream.'; Well, what is the “traditional'; American Dream? Perhaps, the dream is to have a nice car and house, and a good job. But in contrast to Gaiter, I believe that these are the same things we want today. Nothing has changed except for the fact that entrepreneurs have emerged with the growth of the Web. People are finding ways to make money from avenues they never dreamed of. The “American Dream'; as we know it has not vanished or been left behind, it has simply been revised to include family time and personal goals. Although racism has decreased in society today, it still is a threat to getting people on the Web. Nowadays, blacks are not the only one being discriminated against-it’s all minorities. In studies conducted, of the online community, only 23% are non-white. Because of this, non-whites are uncomfortable with the fact that they may converse with those who under normal circumstances would show prejudice against them. President Clinton stated that his goal was to have a computer in every home by the end of his term. But how many people will want to access the web if it is considered “white?'; Gaiter stated that the web is considered “white'; and therefore people stay away to avoid trouble, even if they are offered the opportunity. The only problem that Leonce Gaiter did not fully address is economics. With the amount of people on government assistance growing everyday, economics poses as a big problem. Studies have shown that of the majority of those who do not use the web at least 35% were at an economic disadvantage.

22 Signs Your Boss Hates You
22 Signs Your Boss Hates You We all think from time to time that our bosses hate us. à Rest assured, 9à times out of 10, the problem is entirely in our heads. But just in case youââ¬â¢re in one of those rare situations, itââ¬â¢s best to know the truth. At least that way you stand a chance of changing his or her view of you. Here are 22 possible signs that your bossà probably hates you, a lot.1. Your gut tells you soYouââ¬â¢ve just got a bad feeling about it. Are you usually spot on with your gut feelings? If you are, you might consider taking this as a preliminary clue, rather than as a sign that you are crazy or overly anxious.2. Youââ¬â¢re out of the loopYour boss doesnââ¬â¢t come to you with tasks or questions or involve you in big decisions and discussions. In general, youââ¬â¢re not asked for input on anything of import, which may mean you arenââ¬â¢t valued.3. He doesnââ¬â¢t look you in the eyeThis could be a sign that your bossà is harboring a bit of hostility and would rath er that go undetected. Also eye contact in general signals a certain degree of attention and trust, which you arenââ¬â¢t getting.4. She never smiles at youOr even around you. If this canââ¬â¢t simply be explained by a mood swing or a bad week, then you might start asking yourself questions.5. Youââ¬â¢re the only one getting micromanagedMicromanagers are the absolute worst. But if you notice that no one else in your office is being subject to the same treatment, thatââ¬â¢s a surefire sign youââ¬â¢re on the naughty list.6.They avoid youIf your boss is always nipping out of the room when you enter, waiting for another elevator, swerving around a cubicle to avoid your eye, and never overlapping during your main work hoursâ⬠¦something is up.7. You barely existYour boss doesnââ¬â¢t acknowledge your presence or arrival with a simple nod or hello or ââ¬Å"have a good night.â⬠Seriously, how hard is that? There has to be a reason.8. Youââ¬â¢re getting monosylla blesAll your questions, even ââ¬Å"How are you?â⬠s are met with one word answers. And emails are perfunctory with no nice greetings or signatures. Basically, if you feel youââ¬â¢re getting the silent treatment from a teenage girl.9. Bad body languageCrossed arms, impatience, not looking up when you enter their officeâ⬠¦ and generally projecting an air of standoffishness.10. Youââ¬â¢re in email jailWhereas your boss routinely has small meetings or conversations with your coworkers, she communicates with you solely over email, as if avoiding face time.11. Youââ¬â¢re not on the insideAnytime there is a special project or important meeting, youââ¬â¢re not involved.12. She keeps her door closedThough, that might be a sign that your boss hates everyone, not just you.13. The wall of ââ¬Å"noâ⬠You canââ¬â¢t get anything right. Every suggestion you make is put down. Every answer you give is corrected. You ask for something and you get a big fat ââ¬Å"no.â⬠Itââ¬â¢s even more telling if your boss is not like this with your other coworkers.14. Heà doesnââ¬â¢t ever get personalEven in a particularly all-business office, personal conversations crop up now and again. If your boss is asking your coworkers about their kids and weekends and hobbies, but never you? Bad sign.15. You get all the grunt jobsYou keep getting assigned all the jobs that no one else would touch with a 10-foot pole, well below your pay grade and experience.16. Sheââ¬â¢s stingy with the feedbackEven when you ask for it. She doesnââ¬â¢t seem to care whether you progress or your work improves. This sort of indifference is not good for your relationship or your career.17. She gives you plenty of feedback (negative, and publicly)Youââ¬â¢re voted Most Likely To Get Dressed Down at the Meeting. If your boss is going out of her way to embarrass or humiliate you, youââ¬â¢re in big trouble. That disrespect is highly unprofessional, so itââ¬â¢s probably c oming from somewhere deep.18. Youââ¬â¢re not in on the jokesItââ¬â¢s like middle school all over again and youââ¬â¢re on the outside of all the inside jokes. If thereââ¬â¢s a lot of banter in your office and you never have to take a turn getting roasted, that could also be a bad sign.19. He takes the creditEvery good thing you manage to accomplish, and every good idea you have, seems to be presented in the end as his.20. Your good projects get reassignedThe one thing that kept you getting jazzed about coming into work? Gone next Monday. Given to someone else with little explanation. Itââ¬â¢s like someone took your toy away.21. You hear the phrase ââ¬Å"personality clashâ⬠If your boss says something like this out loud to describe your relationship, then chances are she doesnââ¬â¢t like you very much. This is polite speak for I HATE YOUR GUTS GET OUT OF MY FACE.22. You seem to make herà horribly impatientYour boss has all the time in the world for the office dunce, for other peopleââ¬â¢s mistakes, but zero for you. Sheââ¬â¢s always short and curt and jiggling her foot.If any of these 22 warning signs ring true for you, it might be worth a conversation, a strategy on how to change the situation, or even a search for another job. But, like we said, better to know!

Selecting Patient Escorts Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Selecting Patient Escorts - Assignment Example The idea from the supervisor of patient escorts on using questioners to judge personality would also be limited in the sense that interaction between the patients and escorts would be verbal. He would rather suggest to the department conducting the interview to incorporate oral interview. Considering advice from the assistant human resource director that, the hospital should modify the typical interview through asking four or five stress producing questions. This would be very helpful because It would give the hospital better candidates that are competent enough to manage and cope with stress situations well (K. Kolcaba, Comfort theory and practice: a vision for holistic health care and research). Each applicant should submit three letters of recommendation from people that know them really well. This was the second suggestion made by the supervisor of patient escorts to curb the prevailing issues faced in the hospital. It is a good suggestion unlike the first criteria used where only one recommendation letter was required in recruiting escorts. It gives the impression that the individual applying for the job opportunity is interactive and has previously interacted with people. It also portrays the degree of socialization and other personal principles of an individual which is a crucial and relevant trait to look for in an individual. The previous system that the hospital used to recruit escorts is that, the hospital used to make a call within the hospital during a reference check because, those interviewed knew some other employees in the hospital. It is a good criterion for interviewing individuals and acts as assurance in the sense that, the hospital has experience working with the person writing the recommendation and their conduct at work reflected. This would be better compared to having recommendation given by people outside the institution. Suggestion by the head of the staffing section that, an attitude test be developed to measure applicantsââ¬â¢ predisposition towards being friendly, helpful and sensitive is another step to tackle the problems facing the hospital. Test questions would also be a component of the attitude test package and would be a key role in the interview for competent escort. Recommend a procedure for recruiting and hiring patient escorts. Recruitment of patient escorts involves a series of steps in the choosing the right individuals for the job. The process involves; 1. Going through policies and procedures Policies and proced

International Business (IB) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
International Business (IB) - Essay Example The main lines of production were cables, rubber and paper, while electronics unit was still relatively small. However, all this changed with the International acquisitions of several European electronics companies. Thus Nokia strengthened its position in the consumer electronics and telecommunications market. Nokia has used collaborative ventures as a strategy particularly in Europe and in Asia, especially in China. Europe being a developed market, it made sense for Nokia to enter into joint ventures to build upon the expertise and the knowledge base of the existing companies. By 1991, the bilateral trade agreements between Finland and Soviet Union were abolished and Nokia started looking for intermediaries. This led Nokia to enter into indirect exports through joint ventures in Europe. China was a promising but unfamiliar overseas market. Thus Nokia entered into joint ventures with Chinese and other Asian companies and Government to achieve the following objectives: Nokia has been using networks based on innovative ideas to keep pace with a dynamic technological environment, which evolved into mobile telephony. Nokia used mainly international innovation networks in becoming a world leader in the mobile phone industry. This is the best example of Nokiaââ¬â¢s collaborative venture strategy as an internationalization mode. Nokiaââ¬â¢s international business strategy gradually moved from collaborative ventures to more of exports as it gained foothold in the overseas markets. However, instead of making the home country Finland its export hub, it chose Countries like China and India as their export hubs to the rest of the world. Thus Nokiaââ¬â¢s Export policy could be seen as a furtherance of its collaborative ventures. From China alone, where Nokia earlier pursued primarily the policy of Collaborative ventures, its exports grew by 50% to a record level in the year 2001. China, which had acquired the position of the second

Hyperthyroidism Case Study
Hyperthyroidism Case Study Introduction Patient A is a 49 year old female of 76 kilograms and height of 161.5 centimetres. The patient has attempted to diet but has gained 11.3 kilograms in the previous months. The patient also sleeps for 14-16 hours a day. Her movements were slothful. The patients signs consisted of a slight enlargement of the neck area, coarse textured hair and dry skin. When her blood sample was analysed it showed that the hormone T4 (thyroxin) levels were 3.2 micrograms/millilitre which is lower than the normal range, 4.2-11.2 micrograms/millilitre. In addition to this her TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels were high. Diagnosis The analysis of the weight gain using the diagnosis table shows that this could be as a result of hyperthyroidism or Cushing syndrome or hypothyroidism. The slothful behaviour could be caused by Addisons disease or hypothyroidism. The dry skin of the patient is consistent with the hypothyroidism condition. The swelling on the neck could be a goitre which results from a lack of iodine in the thyroid gland. Overstimulation causes the thyroid gland to swell. This swelling could also be a result of hyperthyroidism whereby the thyroid gland secretes too much thyroid hormone and the swelling also results, or it could be a thyroid tumour which also causes the swelling. [1,2] The signs and symptoms are consistent with either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism and are on the thyroid gland. Cross-section diagram of the neck showing the thyroid gland (106.gif) http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Hypothyroidism-Underactive-Thyroid.htm Analysis of blood samples and effect of hormones on homeostasis The hormone T4 speeds up metabolic rates regulates the amount of oxygen used up by cells and regulates body heat. [3] The patients weight gain could be as a result of a decrease in the rate of digestion. Low T4 levels mean that not enough digestive juices are being secreted because T4 controls metabolic rates resulting in the slow movement of smooth muscles lining the stomach. T4 promotes the normal development of muscle tone and normal functioning of skeletal and cardiac muscles. This possibly explains why the patient is experiencing slothful movement. [1] In addition to this T4 also promotes the hydration of the skin, secretion of the exocrine glands and the growth of hair. The consequences of low T4 could explain why the patients hair is coarse and why the patient has dry skin. [1] To distinguish between hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism a T4 and TSH test have to be done. [4] The TSH test is normally chosen for the evaluation of the thyroid function and for the symptoms of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. It is often done with or after a T4 test. The results of the tests performed show an elevated TSH level and a low T4 level which show that the patient has hypothyroidism. Condition Normal Hyperthyroidism Hypothyroidism Hypothyroidism Secondary TSH Normal Low High Low T4 Normal High Low Low [4] WHAT IS HYPOTHYROIDISM Hypothyroidism is a condition caused by the underactive functioning of the thyroid gland whereby the thyroid does not produce enough or does not even produce triodothyronine (T3) and thyroxin (T4). [1] The thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped organ which is found inferior to the Larynx and in front of the neck. [1] If the thyroid is underactive hypothyroidism appears. They are two types of hypothyroidism and these are primary and secondary hypothyroidism. [4] Primary Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid does not produce T4 and T3 hormones at all. [4] Secondary Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid produces amounts of T3 and T4 which are below the normal levels. [4] The thyroid gland swells up in as a result of it trying to achieve homeostasis. The body has low T4 levels therefore the gland works even harder to try and produce more hormones and this causes an increase in the size of the gland. Causes 95% of the time the thyroid gland is not secreting sufficient thyroid hormone and this could cause the hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism could be an autoimmune disease. The immune system protects the body from foreign substances and infection. However, in this case the immune system mistakes the thyroid gland cells and enzymes, as foreign objects and attacks them resulting in the low production of thyroid hormone. [5] Hypothyroidism could also be as a result of Hashimoto disease (chronic thyroiditis). This is a genetic autoimmune disease which could also result the enlargement of the thyroid gland causing goitre. Goitre is a cyst like fibrous growth in the neck region and is caused by an immunologic dysfunction or by an infection and requires lifelong treatment. Stress, poor dieting and strenuous exercise could also cause an imbalance of hormones and leads to hypothyroidism. [6] Hypothyroidism can also result from low iodine concentrations in the body. Iodine is required for the proper and normal functioning of the thyroid gland hence insufficient amounts would cause a dysfunction. [5] The enlargement of the gland is an attempt by the thyroid gland to trap more iodine. X-ray radiation, drug abuse and pesticide residues also contribute to having an underactive thyroid gland. [7] Another way of acquiring hypothyroidism could be the after effect of a surgery for example on the removal of thyroid glands. The surgery could be performed on a patient with cancer or the Graves Disease but if partially removed it could fail to produce enough thyroid hormone necessary to regulate normal and necessary bodily functions. [7-8] Surgery could also be performed on the pituitary gland which sends instructions to the thyroid gland on how much thyroid hormone should be produced. [5] Any damage to the pituitary gland or the hypothalamus could cause hypothyroidism as they both p lay a role in sending signals to the thyroid gland so that it produces more thyroid hormone. In some cases the condition could arise from the use of drugs such as amiodarone, lithium interferon alpha, and interkulin-2. These drugs stop the thyroid gland from producing the thyroid hormone at a normal and are likely to trigger hypothyroidism especially in patients with a genetic tendency to auto immune thyroid disease. [5] Possible Treatment methods To treat hypothyroidism artificial hormones such as Levothyroxine or Liotrix can be administered to the patient so as to replace the hormones; T4, TSH or T3 that are lacking in the body. Iodine supplements or iodised salt for those with iodine deficiency can be effective as well. [9-10] The doses of the drugs are not fixed hence the medicine is only formulated when the amount of hormone in the patient has been determined, therefore the patient has to return for constant check-ups after 6 week intervals so that the blood samples and the hormones can be analysed again so that the dosage can be changed. [7-10] When treating the elderly that have a history of heart disease, low doses of the drug have to be administered as this could lead to a greater/increased risk of heart attack. [10] For the short term treatment of hypothyroidism, T hormones are used to inhibit the synthesis of TSH in the body. Hormone replacement is predominated by the prolonged effect of T hormones on the level of TSH present. For those who do not prefer drug therapy for hypothyroidism homeopathic remedies are also available. The homeopathic remedies such as Thyax and Thyroidinum 6C can be used to stimulate the thyroid gland to start to produce its own hormone. [11-12] Prognosis If the condition of hypothyroidism is detected early there is a high chance that the condition can be completely controlled using medicine. After treatment with drugs, the levels of thyroid hormones usually return to normal after several months, whereas in other individuals suffering from hypothyroidism, the disorder is a lifelong problem. [13] Their treatment should be taken consistently every day for the rest of their lives. [14] If hypothyroidism goes untreated it could lead to other complications. Low thyroxin levels cause the level of lipids and cholesterol to rise, causing the patient to suffer from heart disease. [13] In pregnant women there is an increased risk in having anaemia, still birth and serious bleeding after birth or it could lead to a myxoedema coma, which arises due to the low levels of thyroid hormone. [13-14] Advantages and disadvantages of chosen treatment methods With allopathic remedies there is a chance that if the drug dosage is too low it could cause hypothyroidism and if the drug dosage is too high it could lead to hyperthyroidism. The homeopathic remedies are the best treatment methods as compared to the supplementation medications as it aids the gland to function properly, whereas in the supplementation medications the gland could become too dependent on the drugs and throw the other glands in the body off balance. [12] If the doses of the artificial hormones are not check or changed, with time this could lead to hyperthyroidism. Prevention methods There are no medication preventative methods for hypothyroidism, but a healthy diet can protect and preserve ones health. The patient can take iodine supplements in their food and this reduces the risk of them contracting it. Exercising, getting enough sleep, relaxation are ways in which hypothyroidism future problems can be avoided. Exercise is another activity that boosts the levels of thyroid hormone therefore reducing the risk of hypothyroidism. [15] Conclusion There is no cure to the condition therefore the patient will have to keep taking medicine for the rest of their lives. The patient will have to go for constant check-ups in order to change the dose according to the thyroid hormone levels that they have, and the misuse of the drugs could make their condition worse. Scars of Sethe and Paul D in Toni Morrisons Beloved Essay -- Toni Mor
The Scars of Sethe and Paul D in Beloved Scars are undoubtably an incredible means of storytelling in Beloved. No matter how a person changes or what happens to them, these marks are another bit of tangible history, following each of them wherever they may go. These physical characteristics are what one can believe in, more than what is said or written. When written and oral language can many times not be trusted, physical characteristics provide another more certain form of communication--one that cannot be biased or altered. People not only know the identity of someone by knowing their scars, but each scar tells a story of what a person has gone through. Sethe's back and the scars caused by her beating are important in the story in terms of telling a story of what she's been through, providing a way in which she and some of the other characters may connect. For example, Paul D learns more about Sethe and is able to connect with her through her scars. When Sethe first attempts to explain to Paul D what had happened to her on pages 16-7, he has trouble understanding the true...

Carpe Diem
Alex Rohret Mrs. Oxley English 1302 22 February 2013 The Light and Dark Sides of the Force The first time I heard the phrase Carpe Diem, I wasnââ¬â¢t sure what to think. First of all, I had never heard either of the words used in the phrase. Secondly, after repeating the words in my head a few times to see if I was getting them mixed up with some other words that are actually in the English Language. I later came to figure out that these words werenââ¬â¢t in the English Language at all; theyââ¬â¢re in the dead language of Latin. This phraseââ¬â¢s literal translation in English is ââ¬Å"Seize the Day. There are a number of similar phrases that are popular today that might be easier to understand. The most recent, and possibly more popular, is Yolo, meaning You Only Live Once. These two phraseââ¬â¢s purpose is to tell people to live each day like itââ¬â¢s their last. Robert Herrickââ¬â¢s Poem; To the Virgins to Make Much of Time, is a perfect way to tell others ho w to live each day to the fullest when he says ââ¬Å"Gatherà ye rosebuds while ye may, Old time is still a-flying : And this same flower that smiles to-day To-morrow will be dying. This is the first stanza to his poem, and in my opinion is the best stanza of the poem. Herrickââ¬â¢s meaning behind this stanza is basically to Seize the Day. This stanzaââ¬â¢s translation, to me, is to do what you want while you can because you will not live forever, and if you donââ¬â¢t do what you want today, then tomorrow you might not get the chance to do anything at all. The reason that weââ¬â¢re studying Carpe Diem is because of the movie Dead Poets Society. The setting of Dead Poets Society takes place in the 50ââ¬â¢s at an all boyââ¬â¢s prep school, where it always seems to be cold. A new English teacher, Mr.Keating, at the school inspires a group of kids to start an underground poetry reading group, where the students read poems written by dead poets, or written by themselv es. All of the poems read at these meetings follow the same meaning: carpe diem. The name of this group is the Dead Poets Society. Out of Herrickââ¬â¢s same poem ââ¬Å"That age is best which is the first, When youth and blood are warmer; But being spent, the worse, and worst Times still succeed the former. â⬠This excerpt explains that it is better to live life to the fullest while youââ¬â¢re young, because as you age, you lose chances to seize the day.The Dead Poets Society is adolescent boys, which is exactly the time to seize the say according to To the Virgins to Make Much of Time. The adolescents in this society interpret Carpe Diem differently, because there is more than one way that it can be interpreted. Since there are different ways to interpret Carpe Diem, each character does something different. For example, a boy named Knox meets a girl from the local public High School, and falls for her. He works up the courage to call her one night, and she invited him to a party at her boyfriendââ¬â¢s house, where he kissed her, and proceeded to get beaten by her boyfriend.Another boy, Charlie, changes his name to Nuwanda, and insists all of the dead poets to call him as such. During a school wide meeting, Nuwanda brings in a phone and pretends to get a call from god, he then tells the headmaster that the call is for him. All of these boys do exactly what Herrick says in his poem. They are gathering ye rosebuds, while they can. I like to think of Carpe Diem as similar to The Force in Star Wars: there is a dark side, and a light side. The side that most of us would like to know is the side where one does whatever they want and only has fun doing it, which is known as the light side. The dark side is where one does what they want, but what they want to do may be way overboard, and the repercussions of their actions may lead to serious consequences, or even death. One of the boys, Neil, has an overbearing father that is making him go to school to be a doctor. But what he really wants is to be an actor. Mr. Perry would say things like, ââ¬Å"You have opportunities that I never even dreamt of, and I am not going to let you waste them! â⬠(Dead Poets Society). This, to me, is what set Neil over the edge. I believe that at this moment he realized that his father was trying to live through him. This was the moment that Neil finally has had enough, this was Neilââ¬â¢s climax. What happens to Neil brings out the dark side of the force that is known as Carpe Diem. Instead of talking to his father about what he wants, he does something as drastic as taking his own life. Neil went entirely too far with living each day like it is you last, because he would have lived the next day, if it were not for his poor choices. The resolution of this film doubles as another boyââ¬â¢s climax. Todd is a very bashful boy that only tries to do what is expected of him. Todd was even bashful through Mr.Keatingââ¬â¢s teachings of Carpe Diem a nd all of the Dead Poets Meetings that took place. But at the end of the film, Todd finally broke his silence, and stood up on the desk saying O captain my captain, defying his temporary replacement teacherââ¬â¢s orders. He does this in honor of Mr. Keating, and everything that he taught them. Soon enough all of the members of the Dead Poets Society, as well as a few other students that have no relevance, are standing on their desks saying the same phrase, O captain my captain. To the Virgins to Make Much of Time played a big role in the Dead Poets Society, by capturing the lighter side of carpe diem. This poem also captures what I believe carpe diem means to me: Live life to the fullest, and to live life while the blood is still warm. This poem embodies carpe diem, and everything that the Dead Poets Society stood for. Understanding how the film and the poem connect so deeply helps the viewer, or the reader, appreciate them both just that much more. Christianity vs Jainism Essay
I have selected Christianity and Jainism, two of the foremost world beliefs as the two beliefs I would like to compare. I chose these two beliefs because of my familiarity with Christianity and my concern in liking to discover more about Jainism. I begun my study by liking to understand about their likenesses but completed up discovering many more about their differences. I will start by giving a short abstract on each belief and then I will register and interpret three dissimilarities in their outlooks on perfection, convictions in Gods, and finally their convictions about non-violence. Lastly, I will announce the book reader how these dissimilarities sway the persons inside the religion. First, letââ¬â¢s take a gaze at Christianity. It is a monotheistic belief that begun almost 2000 years ago. In the publication, Living Religions, it states Christianity as a belief founded belief that aim itsââ¬â¢ outlooks on the life and outlooks of Jesus Christ (Living 295). Christians should make every effort to be like Jesus. The concepts that Christians accept as factual about Jesus (his life and teaching) are founded on biblical text (Living 297). The Bible, which comprises the educating of Jesus through scriptures and text, has been mentioned to as the divinely motivated Word of God. Christians accept as factual that Jesus is the Son of God and that God conceived all things (Konig). Jainism, on the other hand, is a non-theistic religion. It is a non-Vedic belief that drawn from out of India. There is no creator or destroyer (Living 122). Jainism is one of Indiaââ¬â¢s oldest and was one of its smallest renowned beliefs but is now evolving identified as a entire and fruitful route (Living 120). Christianity and Jainism disagree in their convictions about perfection. Christians accept as factual that no one except Christ is perfect. Christians accept as factual that there is no way to come to that flawless state. They accept as factual that as long as there are persons, there will habitually be sin. Judaism and Christianity evolved on the cornerstone complying God, on adherence to his directions and aims and their trustworthy fulfillment. Since the fulfillment of Godââ¬â¢s will is a obligation of a Jewish or Christian individual, both beliefs drop into the rule-deontological category. In Judaism, God is glimpsed as having a contractual connection with the Jewish persons where they should comply his holy regulations in come back for their rank of the selected people. God pays or penalizes Jewish persons founded on if they comply or disobey his will. In components of the Old Testament, although, God does display clemency or forgiveness, and in subsequent interpretations Godââ¬â¢s regulations such as the Ten Commandments are pursued not only out of commitment to God but furthermore because of their high lesson character. In Christianity, the focus is put on love of God other than on complying his will. People should accept as factual that God is merciful and loves them as well. As a reflection of Godââ¬â¢s love, persons should furthermore love other persons (and the entire humanity in general) and pardon their enemies. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus endorses agape, or selfless love (in compare to eros, or possessive love), which comprises of dedication to another personââ¬â¢s good, even at the total cost of our own good and happiness. People should perform calm and nonviolence; come back healthy bad and love for pain (ââ¬Å"turn the other cheekâ⬠). This directs to a exceptional beginning of fairness, called the ââ¬Å"divine justiceâ⬠, which is founded on giving a individual what he or she desires rather than warrants (e. g. , in case of a misdeed, redemption rather getting even). Even though anapestic love is absolutely a noble perfect, it is unstable equilibrium and an so straightforward casualty of the ââ¬Å"prisonerââ¬â¢s dilemma,â⬠in which the best alternate for a assembly of persons is not the best alternate for each individual in the group. In other phrases, firm adherence to anapestic perfect only works if every individual pursues it but falls short if there are self-centered persons who take benefit of the selfless people. Have you ever been exploring for a thing on the Internet and snapped on a guiltless staring overpass and been sent to a pornographic site? This eventuates more times than bulk separate population realize. Many times dead overpasses or wrong positions will self-acting lead you to a pornographic site. The way that pornography on the Internet is accessed wants to be modified, so it is not mistakenly opened. There is many of debate through if pornography ought be on the Internet or not. Personally I could care smaller diagram if it was on World Wide Web or not. I perform not view at any of it neither will I ever care to. There are numerous separate populations out there any people who perform decide to view at pornography. I sense that is someone choice. As prolonged as the someone is 18 or through they ought be competent to view at pornography on the computer show in public till their eyes pass over if they longing to. The simply real problem I look is how a customer can be so without obstacle misdirected to a pornography position and exploring to receive out of one of these sites later you have mistakenly been sent there can be annoying. I am definite we have all had this problem, you in one way or another receive sent to a porn position and all these tiny packing metal cans commence popping higher to play-act to other sites, to view at photos, and to pay for things. Trying to snap your way out can be crazy. Every time you lastly remove one packing reservoir another one pops up. If you test to exercise the behind button to receive out, you not able to because the siteââ¬â¢s designer has it initiate so you are snared there. The way these sites are initiate wants to be changed. A customer ought not to be sent there if not they prepared in ââ¬Å"pornographyâ⬠in a explore motor or they prepared in a actual pornographic siteââ¬â¢s address. Misdirection to these sites wants to be stopped. Many separate population dispute that pornography ought not to be on the Internet because younger young youngsters could receive into these sites and look item they perform not want seeing. In my view, younger young youngsters ought not even be on the Internet without develop someone supervision. There is many of knowledge on the Internet that younger young youngsters perform not want to be accessing in supplement to pornography. What I perform not understand is that you can play-act to a warehouse and pay for a pornographic journal or play-act to a cinema warehouse and hire a pornographic cinema and separate population are smaller diagram bothered by these ;than the very interchangeable thing on the Internet. I sense that just because there is pornographic material on the Internet that does not intend that you have to view at it. If it bothers you afterward just perform not play-act near these sites. Use the Internet for your have intents and sanction other separate population to exercise it for their reasons. As prolonged as the way pornographic sites are investigated on the Internet are modified in lead that separate population are not mistakenly sent to these sites ,I look no start why these sites not able to be on the Internet with all the other knowledge out there. I not able to ever play-act to these sites so if they are extracted it not able to act on at all since it does not act on me now. It is a someone determination that each someone has to generate for themselves and I consider every someone ought have the right to entry to no matter what material they are fascinated in.

Speed-the-Plow Plot Summary and Study Guide
Speed-the-Plow Plot Summary and Study Guide Speed-the-Plow is a play written by David Mamet. It is comprised of three lengthy scenes involving the corporate dreams and strategies of Hollywood executives. The original Broadway production of Speed-the-Plow opened on May 3rd, 1988. It starred Joe Mantegna as Bobby Gould, Ron Silver as Charlie Fox, and (making her Broadway debut) pop-icon Madonna as Karen. What does the title Speed-the-Plow mean? The title is derived from a phrase in a 15th-century work-song, God speed the plough. It was a prayer for prosperity and productivity. Plot Summary of Act One: Speed-the-Plow begins with the introduction of Bobby Gould, a recently promoted Hollywood executive. Charlie Fox is a business colleague (ranking below Gould) who brings in a movie script that is connected to a hit-making director. During the first scene, the two men gush about how successful they will become, all thanks to the script option. (The screenplay is a stereotypically violent prison/action movie.) Gould makes a call to his boss. The boss is out of town but will be back the next morning and Gould guarantees that the deal will be approved and that Fox and Gould will get a producer credit. While they discuss the mutual hardships of their early days together, they also mingle with Karen, a temporary receptionist. When Karen is out of the office, Fox wagers that Gould wont be able to seduce Karen. Gould takes the challenge, offended by the idea that Karen would be attracted to his position at the studio, but incapable of loving him as a person. After Fox leaves the office, Gould encourages Karen to become more goal-oriented. He gives her a book to read and asks her to stop by his house and provide a review. The book is titled The Bridge or, Radiation and the Half-Life of Society. Gould has only glanced at it, but he already knows that it is a pretentious attempt at intellectual art, unsuitable for a movie, especially a movie at his studio. Karen agrees to meet him later in the evening, and the scene ends with Gould convinced that he will win his bet with Fox. Plot Summary of Act Two: The second act of Speed-the-Plow takes place entirely in Goulds apartment. It opens with Karen passionately reading from the Radiation book. She claims that the book is profound and important; it has changed her life and taken away all fear. Gould tries to explain how the book would fail as a film. He explains that his job is not to create art but to create a marketable product. Karen continues to persuade, however, as her conversation becomes more personal. She states that Gould does not have to be afraid anymore; he does not have to lie about his intentions. In her scene-closing monolog, Karen says: KAREN: You asked me to read the book. I read the book. Do you know what it says? It says that you were put here to make stories people need to see. To make them less afraid. It says in spite of our transgressions - that we could do something. Which would bring us alive. So that we neednt feel ashamed. By the end of her monolog, it is apparent that Gould has fallen for her, and that she spends the night with him. Plot Summary of Act Three: The final act of Speed-the-Plow returns to Goulds office. Its the morning after. Fox enters and begins to scheme about their upcoming meeting with the boss. Gould calmly states that he will not be green-lighting the prison script. Instead, he plans to make the Radiation book. Fox does not take him seriously at first, but when he finally realizes that Gould is serious, Fox becomes furious. Fox argues that Gould has gone insane and that the source of his madness is Karen. It seems that during the previous evening (before, after or during love-making) Karen has convinced Gould that the book is a beautiful work of art that must be adapted into a film. Gould believes that green-lighting the Radiation book is the right thing to do. Fox becomes so angry that he punches Gould twice. He demands that Gould tells the story of the book in one sentence, but because the book is so complex (or so convoluted) Gould is unable to explain the story. Then, when Karen enters, he demands that she answers a question: FOX: My question: you answer me frankly, as I know you will: you came to his house with the preconception, you wanted him to greenlight the book. KAREN: Yes. FOX: If he had said no, would you have gone to bed with him? When Karen admits that she would not have had sex with Gould if he did not agree to produce the book, Gould is flung into despair. He feels lost, as though everyone wants a piece of him, everyone wants to leech off of his success. When Karen tries to persuade him by saying Bob, we have a meeting, Gould realizes that she has been manipulating him. Karen doesnt even care about the book; she just wanted a chance to quickly move up the Hollywood food chain. Gould exits to his washroom, leaving Fox to promptly fire her. In fact, he does more than fire her, he threatens: You ever come on the lot again, Im going to have you killed. As she exits, he throws the Radiation book after her. When Gould re-enters the scene, he is glum. Fox tries to cheer him up, talking about the future and the movie that they will soon be producing. The last lines of the play: FOX: Well, so we learn a lesson. But we arent here to pine, Bob, we arent here to mope. What are we here to do (pause) Bob? After everything is said and done. What are we put on earth to do? GOULD: Were here to make a movie. FOX: Whose name goes above the title? GOULD: Fox and Gould. FOX: Then how bad can life be? And so, Speed-the-Plow ends with Gould realizing that most, perhaps all, people will desire him for his power. Some, like Fox, will do it openly and blatantly. Others, like Karen, will try to deceive him. Foxs final line asks Gould to look on the bright side, but since their movie products seem shallow and overtly commercial, it seems that there is little satisfaction to Goulds successful career.
